The "Seismics, Magnetics, and Gravimetry" section applies methods from these three fundamental geophysical disciplines in the focal research fields of the GGA Institute. Paleo-magnetic studies conducted by our branch in Grubenhagen near Einbeck contribute to this research.

Investigations on the geophysical properties of the subsurface rocks is important for our understanding of the structure and dynamics of the Earth's crust. At depths which can be affected by anthropogenic activities, i.e., the top 1000 m, knowledge of the subsurface structures is vital for economic and environmental reasons.

High-resolution seismic methods are used to explore geological structures, such as fault systems and sedimentary basins. Geological and geophysical maps of the subsurface can be made by incorporating magnetic and gravimetric data.
