The governing board holds responsibility for GGA Institute and decides on matters of significant importance.

The governing board has 11 members:

  1. Two representatives of the Federal State and of the State Lower Saxony, respectively;

  2. the head of the scientific advisory board;

  3. one representative of the Technical University Clausthal;

  4. two representatives of the joint state-federal committee for soil research;

  5. one representative of the board of the directors of the state geological surveys;

  6. one renowned person from industry;

  7. one renowned person from geosciences.

The specific tasks of the governing board are noted in the constitution of GGA Institute.
