In doing research, GGA Institutes cooperates with

• the State Geological Surveys
• Universities and Technical Universities
• non-university research institutions
• industry companies

The institute is a member of the state-federal committee for soil research (BLA-Geo). The director of the institute is appointed jointly with a university and holds lectures there.

A significant part of the financial means and of the staff of the institute results from successful applications of research grants.
