Research of GGA Institute is either in methods or in topical research fields. The development or improvement of new instruments, measuring systems, and interpretation techniques in the fields of applied geosciences is mainly the task of five sections.

To achieve progress in interdisciplinary thematic issues, the institute has defined four topical research fields. They cover issues of present scientific importance and serve relevant societal needs.
